About Chapelfield Elementary

History of Chapelfield Elementary

Chapelfield Elementary, located on Chapelfield Road, was named after this street. It was built in 1968 as the fifth elementary in the Gahanna-Jefferson School District.

Chapelfield Elementary was enlarged in 1991 to include four additional classrooms and a new library media center.

In 2023, a security vestibule was added to Chapelfied. This improvement increased safety and now allows office staff a second opportunity to vet all visitors before they enter the hallways.

On behalf of the committed faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Chapelfield Elementary School. Our caring team is dedicated to building strong relationships with our students and families. Relationships with students’ families are critical in helping students grow to become successful life long learners. We develop these relationships through community activities such as back to school night, Parent Teacher Organization and our annual carnival. Please take time to read our weekly newsletter to stay informed of ways to become involved in our school.

Our students at Chapelfield Elementary School are learning to read in kindergarten through second grade and reading to learn in third through fifth grade. They are also becoming mathematicians, scientists and historians. Through our related arts program, students develop skills in art, music and research while also learning ways to promote physical fitness. We ask them to think critically, solve problems creatively and collaboratively, develop strong communication skills and become informed citizens of the world. These 21st century skills will set up each child for success. With your partnership, we will work to prepare your child(ren) for success in middle school, high school and college and/or career readiness.

Beyond establishing a strong academic foundation, we believe in building students’ character through our PAWS program. Students at Chapelfield are Positive, Act responsibly, Work hard and Show respect to our entire school community. Our dedicated mental health team helps students develop and strengthen their social-emotional skills. We value student leadership through programs such as Student Council where students have a voice in making decisions that impact their daily life at Chapelfield.

I look forward to working with your child(ren) and your family. I am excited to see them grow into their fullest potential this year.

Nicole Miller, Principal
