Counseling

My name is Krysten Jasin and I am your Chapelfield Elementary School Counselor! This is my 15th year as an educator in Gahanna. During my time in GJPS, I have also served as an Intervention Specialist for several years before switching roles to School Counselor. I received both my bachelor's degree in Special Education and my master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton. I reside in Gahanna with my husband and two young children. I am proud to live, work, and raise my own children in this amazing community!  

Our comprehensive school counseling program follows the recommendations of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) to address the social/emotional, career, and academic development of all students. We are dedicated to helping students become skilled problem solvers, leaders, and learners. I work with all students – in conjunction with parents, teachers, and staff – to remove barriers to student learning and encourage success. I support students so they can grow academically, socially, and emotionally, in order to become productive citizens and life-long learners.    

School Counseling Services

• Classroom guidance lessons to teach skills such as identifying emotions, coping skills, conflict resolution, self-regulation, friendship, communication, and more

• Small group counseling based on students' needs

• Short-term individual counseling

• Collaboration and consultation with parents, teachers, and all stakeholders

• Crisis intervention

• Coordination with outside agencies/therapists

• Referrals for community services
